We’ve been asked by a few of our clients recently if they actually need a Will in case the worst happens. Yes, I know this is a morbid blog post but it’s especially important if you have assets and family. Fortunately, Justin’s mum is a practicing solicitor and her firm, TMJ Legal Services kindly developed a flowchart to explain what happens if you die without a Will.

If you die without a Will the Rules of Intestacy will apply. You can use the flow chart below to follow what actually happens and should help you make some informed decisions.

If in doubt pick up the phone to a local solicitors like TMJ Legal (0191 383 0111) and ask to speak to a specialist. Local firms are always happy to talk to you without a charge (initially) and prices tend to start from £99 including vat (depending on complexity).

You may want to discuss other options such as Trusts, Living Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
